Bengkung Belly binding

It’s the art of wrapping a women’s belly for physical support and to help speed up the recovery process after birth. The technique involves using special knots to tie a long strip of cloth around the abdomen from the hips to the rib cage – sometimes after applying herbal paste or essential oils. Traditionally, women are wrapped as soon as possible after giving birth, ideally on the fifth day. The belly band should be worn 10-12 hours a day for the first 40 days. The Bengkung belly binding technique is rooted in Malay culture, but other countries and cultures around the world also use a form of belly binding to aid the healing process. For example, Japanese women call the binding ‘sarashi’ and Hispanic women call it ‘faja’. Women who use belly binding after birth often return to their own pre-pregnancy size in 6-8 weeks.

Benefits of Bengkung belly binding:

Provides postural support to the torso and organs when returning to the pre-pregnancy position

Supports and assits abdominal wall healing and recovery of diastasis recti

Supports the body’s natural spinal alignment and posture after birth

Constant pressure on the torso and abdomen accelerates healing by reducing the amount of water, fat and air in the tissue and cells

Stabilises loose ligaments

Helps prevent and relieve lower back pain and tension

Prevents slouching while feeding or holding the baby

Speeds up the healing process of the uterus and ensures the purification of blood clots

An ancient traditional natural treatment after childbirth

In the case of miscarriage or stillbirth, belly binding can improve emotional healing, and speed physical healing

After giving birth by C-section, women should wait at least 6 weeks for the incision to heal. At this time, belly binding is used primarily to support posture and relieve low back pain during physical activity and/or baby wearing.

Bengkung Belly binding – one session includes fabric for application in 100% cotton or muslin, instruction for you and partner on how to bind.

Placenta encapsulation

The placenta is a remarkable organ full of nutrients that nourishes the baby throughout pregnancy, so it can also provide nutrients to the mother after birth. While some cultures discard the placenta as biological waste, other cultures hold ceremonies to honour the placenta for its vital role in the life of the child, or process it into various forms for ingestion.

Placenta encapsulation is the process where the placenta is dehydrated and processed into a powder that is used to fill gelatine capsules for ingestion. While a tincture, for example, is a placenta extract that is prepared from a small piece of placenta in high proof alcohol.

In addition to iron, placenta is full of minerals, proteins, stem cells and vitamins such as vitamin E, B6 and B12, as well as hormones such as progesterone, prolactin, estrogen and others. These hormones drop after birth and that’s why taking placenta capsules helps to rebalance them.

Placenta encapsulation, for example, has been practiced for centuries in traditional Chinese medicine. Especially to promote lactation. Here, the placenta is considered a powerful and sacred medicine – an organ “full of life force” that should be consumed to support the healing of the mother after birth.

Unfortunately, there are only few studies on placentophagy. But we do know, that women around the world have used placenta in various forms for centuries as part of postpartum treatment. So all information is based on experience and anecdotal evidence.

One small survey of women who ate their placenta showed that 40% reported improved mood, 26% more energy and less fatigue, 15% better breastfeeding and 7% less bleeding.

Placenta encapsulation was first documented in Europe before 1700 and became popular in the U.S. in the 1980s thanks to a midwife who studied traditional Chinese medicine.

More than 4,000 species of mammals consume their placenta as a biological necessity that is beneficial to health, so why not humans?

Placentas are raw organs full of blood that can be easily contaminated. It’s therefore very important that the placenta is handled by a trained professional. Unfortunately, in Czech Republic are many doulas processing placentas, but not all of them have the certification and important knowledge needed to do so. Improper handling and processing can be dangerous for everyone and can also contaminate the work place!!!

I am a trained and certified expert from an international organization on placenta encapsulation, I’m certified in bloodborne pathogens and proper food handling. I follow all safety and hygiene guidelines so my workplace is 100% clean and safe and there is no possibility of contamination. I care a lot about the safety of both - myself and my clients. So you can be 100% sure that everything is in order and processed exactly as it should be, including safe processing temperatures.

Placenta processing can also be done at your home.

Benefits of placenta encapsulation:

prevents postpartum depression

reduces postpartum haemorrhage

increases energy

increases milk production

improves mood

provides important micronutrients

balances hormones

reduces chance of Baby Blues

replenishes iron levels

helps with uterine engorgement

tincture helps with menopausal symptoms and hormonal changes

Due to safety reasons I don’t make a shake or smoothie from raw placenta and I don’t recommend it either.

Placenta encapsulation – the package contains capsules, tincture and dried umbilical cord.

Closing the bones ceremony

"Closing the bones" is a sacred, ancient, traditional and postpartum healing ritual used as help woman's healing process after childbirth and to support her journey into motherhood. It is a powerful healing tool that acknowledges, nurtures and deeply honors the Mother. It’s a rite of passage - closing the cycle to be able to open a new one... "Closing the bones" is often considered a Mexican postpartum tradition - using the rebozo scarf. But the ritual also originated in Russia, Japan, Morocco and other countries across the world, where it’s still used a lot today. Childbirth and postpartum traditions from around the world are basically the same because they are rooted in our physiological and psychological needs. These needs are the same - no matter what our background is.

In Mayan culture it’s said that during labour the Mother’s spirit is travelling in the universe to find and collect her baby’s soul and then birth together. It is said that during the bone closing ceremony the spirit is called back to the woman's body and the ritual encourages the new parent to close energetically.

This ritual helps the bones, organs and uterus move back into place and stimulates blood flow. In addition to the physical benefits, it’s also a very spiritual ritual. It provides a sense of calm, grounding and restores a sense of own self. A woman can process all her feelings, gain strength and release the emotions associated with birth and motherhood. Because after birth a woman's body is "open" and needs to be "closed" again. The hips are known to be an area of the body where unresolved emotions and traumas are held, this causes blockages of energy channels and closing the bones can help to release these emotions/traumas.

The first 40 days after birth is considered a sacred period. It’s a time for the mother to heal. During these 40 days is when The closing the bones ritual is usually performed , but it can be performed even many years after birth with the same amazing results.

This ceremony is deeply healing and is for anyone, regardless of age or gender, who is going through a life change or just wishes to have some closure in their life.

If a woman is breastfeeding, it’s necessary someone to take care of the baby throughout the ritual and bring him back to the woman for breastfeeding.

When can the ritual be performed?
